BETTER and BETTER /MORE and MORE

What's the difference?

- The seasons get better (and better) as you go. (show) BETTER OPTIONAL??

- The night got hotter and hotter.

Which to say?

- Who plays tennis better/who is better at tennis BOTH

Thank you

MM,

Maybe his first sentence was about seasons in the context of TV series (not seasons of the year, I mean).

Ah.

1-- 'And better/hotter' is not optional. It intensifies or elongates.
2-- Yes, both.
