Bernard Levin and Arianna Stassinopoulos-Huffington
Arianna Huffington is in news currently; I was reminded of a reference in Bernard Levin's book 'Enthusiasms' which probably alluded to Arianna. The book has been dedicated to Arianna with 'much more than enthusiasm'. Somewhere in the book Levin has told how his shyness would make him cross the road if he saw a woman he admired. But later he befriended some woman whose identity he had not revealed in the book, but who was very likely Arianna only, and he had added that in her case it took time and her marriage to forge the links which have been of gold and iron. What exactly is this about? I read recently that Arianna had invited all her former lovers to her marriage with Huffington.
Levin had also claimed in his introduction to one of the anthologies of his journalism that he had had several affairs but he wouldn't dream of discussing them in public. Any idea who the other women in his life were?

You can say what you wish in any form of language and the court will take your meaning. But in the UK at least, to be legally married you have to make a specific declaratio

No vicar could have done better - NT>> Oh but they could have, there were only the two of us plus witnesses, my former landlady and her daughter at the church wedding. Even the vicar was a locum tenens, nevertheless at the end of the ceremony he round round to the organ and belted out the Mendelsohn Weddding March. Fifty-two years next Monday. Tempus fugit!
