Moreover, there is another scandal of Taiwanese tourists while traveling in Japan. The story is as following:
UNAGIYA HIROKAWA, a well-known eel kabayaki restaurant, located in Arashiyama, Kyoto, is reputed to the best Unadon grilled eel over rice in Japan. Even Taiwanese tourists will visit there on account of its reputation. However, a netizen posted a message on PTT saying that the other day he made a telephone call from Taiwan to Unagiya Hirokawa, booking a table for reservation. Unexpectedly, he was declined by the waiter who complained that they often got stood up by Taiwanese tourists who had made a reservation with no-show. After the news was spread around, massive numbers of netizens were distressed to hear of it, criticizing that such shameful behavior of these Taiwanese tourists was beneath contempt.
This traditional eel restaurant UNAGIYA HIROKAWA pride themselves on using only carefully selected fresh eel caught daily, cooked in their own unique way, serving the highest quality of grilled eel to the gourmets. All of their dishes are prepared with care and artistry by their experienced kitchen. Therefore, if they get stood up by the customers with no-show, they will inetivably suffer great loss. Their grievances and complaints are understandable. Since the Japanese people place great emphasis on honesty and credit, they highly value the reservation and gear up for the reservation. If you don’t treasure the respect and convenience they offer, then you will be ranked as personae non grata.
Such vicious act is totally unacceptable in a civilized society, giving me further think on the making of the public morality. Honesty and credibility are the moral quality that is essential to every citizen. Just as honesty is vital to human relations , credibility is most important to state relations.
If you describe a society as civilized, you mean that it is advanced and has sensible laws and customs. Thus, we should think about what it means to be a civilized person. A civilized person is honest; he will neither deceive others for his own profit nor cover up his own mistakes with lies. A civilized person is civic-minded; he won’t harm public interests for his own convenience. A civilized person is able to relate to his environment; he speaks and acts like a sophisticated gentleman, dresses properly, and talks decently. A civilized person is well-mannered, polite or diplomatic; he knows how to say "please" and "thank you."
A civilized society is composed of many civilized people, and an advanced society is made up of educated people. Let us make great efforts together and improvement ourselves hand in hand to pursue the goal of a civilized, advanced society!
