"bell ring"?

I'm almost too embarrassed to ask, but I have to ask it. Please see the sentence below. Note the question in the parenthesis is intended for my professor (yes, I would do stuff like this), but now I don't intend to:

"I will use “bell ring” (is that what it’s called?) where in the beginning of class right after the bell rang, I give students a short quiz consisting of 1~3 questions that review prior lesson."

So is it "bell ring"? This is about formative assessment, by the way.

You could say after the bell rings, or even after the bell or just after bell . It really depends on the terminology used in your school.

This sentence does not make sense to me. I don't understand the sense in which you are using "where" or how the two parts are connected.

Yes. So "bell ring" is supposed (I think) to be some sort of quiz. It gets the name because it takes place right after the bell rings. I do agree using "where" doesn't make sense. So how can I rewrite it so it does.

And also, back to my original question, is "bell ring" the right term? Has anyone heard it used this way before? Thank you.

Did you write this sentence, or are you just trying to figure out what the writer of it means?

I wrote it, Clive. I realize this is causing a bit of confusion. So this is for a unit plan assignment I'm working on. One of the section involves assessment and I expressed the importance of implementing various informal quizzes, one of which is called "bell ring", a phrase I am not even sure of, the reason behind this thread. Apparently this is a unique term used here locally?.

In my college (I'm in California) we call them "bell ringers"

Perhaps this.

At the beginning of the class right after the bell rings, I give my students a short quiz called a 'Bell Ring' which consists of 1~3 questions that review the prior lesson.

Thank you so much. I think that's it. Sorry for the confusion teachers and native speakers. This is what I've been looking for. But all the same gratitude to everyone who's kind enough to offer help.

Here is a list of 25 bellringers. Is that the kind of thing you were looking for?
