Bell has gone

Has the bell gone?

I had read this sentence in a grammar book. Is it natural and correct.

Top answer

sundarnaz Has the bell gone? The noun 'bell' collocates with the verb 'go'. So their combination would make for a natural phrase.

To speak of a bell as having "gone" is chiefly British. Americans would say "rung".
