The senator says he believes in God and in His free worship.


I don't understand the "His free worship" part.

"His" is capital,it means "God's"? right?

and what's the exact meaning of "believe in His free worship"?especially "free worship" part.

It's an awkward phrase. I think it means 'people should be free to worship ***'.
