Believe / Believe in

Hey guys,

I am always wondering what's the difference between "i believe you" and "I believe in you"

(or I trust you / I trust in you).

By the way, I have some more questions on the second part: Believe in...

For example, let's just say a man loves a woman but they have a misunderstanding one day.

If he says, after they've ignored each other for a while, I believe in you (not I believe you).

Your example, about the couple having emotional troubles, is an accurate use of 'believe in'. As you have pointed out, 'believe in' is to do with the future and is a more emotional term than the matter-of-fact 'believe'. This is a very difficult idea to grasp,
