being vs. having been

Could someone please explain the difference between these two sentences?

1. Her mother, having been such an attentive person, spotted this at once.
2. Her mother, being such an attentive person, spotted this at once.

1 is not natural, IMO, because one requires simultaneity here, not precedence.

Is the first sentence correct then? Correct grammatically, syntactically, logically?

To me, number 1 does not sound natural, either. It would make more sense to me if it said "Her mother, having been such an attentive person all her life, spotted this at once", but I'm not s

When she was 15, Annette suffered her first bout of depression. Her mother, having been such an attentive person, noticed at once, and helped Annette get the help she needed. Unfortunately, when Annette faced the black dog again, her mother was no longer a constant presence in her life, and so Annette went untreated for months.
