Being stuck To or ON? Please help

Teachers,

Can I change "being stuck to" to "being stuck on" in this example?:

Zebra mussel traveled from Russia to America, stuck to the bottom of a Russian cargo ship.

In terms of meaning, I suppose the prepostion 'on' is more appropriate, because the mussels actually traveled on the bottome of the ship. Thanks so much in advance! bow deeply

Either seems okay, but don't put that "being" in there - just "stuck on/to" as in the original passage.
