Being Shrouded

Hello everyone,

Is the phrase "being shrouded" used correctly in the following sentence?

Passpartout saved the woman, by being shrouded like the dead prince. Then he stood up on top of the fire and carried her down from the fire.

Regards,

It's correct grammar, but it sounds a bit odd. Do you mean he was dressed like a corpse ready for burial? How do you ' stand on top of a fire '?
