Hi,
Why can't A also work? Maybe they have stopped suddenly while moving. This is my analysis for A.
Would you please ell me why A can not work?

I asked this question in http://forum.wordreference.com/threads/well-being-reached-having-reached-a-coffee-shop-we-stopped-for-a-cup-of-coffee.3223200/ too: two native English speakers said that option A (being reached) can't be imagined. But why can't it be imagined? I want to know how you interpret option A that it can't be imagined.

Thank you.

Oof!

It is: We have reached a coffee shop. > Having reached a ..., we ...
Not: We are reached a coffee shop. > Being reached a ..., we ...

So A is impossible. It has a form of be (are, which becomes being), which is not the proper auxiliary.
