Being in the past passive

Hi everyone!

I have a text in the Past Tense about the experiments that were conducted. Then I have to say the following sentnece, but I am unsure whether I'm using "being" correctly here:

A first experimental search for nuclei was undertaken using the reaction, with deuterons being detected (deuterons were detected, but I need to use passive here). Is it ok?

Thanks.

It's OK, but "with ... being ..." is a somewhat weak way of conveying that information as it makes the detection of deuterons a sort of afterthought. Why not the following?
