Being cast in the feminised position as Other

1. Does "being cast in the feminised position as Other" mean "being represented and characterized as feminine and therefore as the other by white people (containing feminine properties and therefore being known as the other by white people)"?

2. Does "a hypermasculinity that fears homosexuality" mean "a super-masculinity that hates and avoids homosexuality"?

Text:
One of the dominant myths and/or fantasies that circulate in black male culture as a defence against being cast in the feminised position as Other to the white man is the insistence on a hypermasculinity that fears homosexuality and any associations with effeminacy (Art and Psychoanalysis by Maria Walsh).
