Being An Adult

I use one website to check my writing, but the advisor comments that "Your essay does not resemble others that have been written on this topic. This might be an indication that it is about something else or is not relevant to the issues this topic raises." I confuse about this comment because I think that I do write something logical.

I am almost twenty years old now and I am already an adult for about two years. But I sit in front of my computer, confusing that whether I am an adult or not. I still remember that when I was only a ten-year-old girl, my Chinese composition teacher wanted me to write an article about my dreams. I did not hesitate and wrote down “I hope that I can grow up faster and become an adult”. Maybe it is a dream for every child. I always think that I can do whatever I like if I am an adult. I do not have to be ordered or controlled by my parents. But now, I gradually understand that it is harder to be a grown-up than a child.
After I live alone in the dormitory of my college life, I experience something and see or hear something which make me mature on my thinking. First of all, I do not like to play tricks or be played by others. For children, maybe it is fun and has no harm. Sometimes, I and my friends laugh at somebody, but it just does not like the way I did to mock someone before. I will stand at the other’s side to think about it. Then, I will know that it is rude and impolite to jest people in that way. This is a change of my thought. I become considerate, cordial and thoughtful.
Secondly, I do not appreciate some people who only wait for the success without doing anything. I originally think that everyone is hard-working and has good temper and character, but through hosting some activities, it is quite easy to find that there are some people try their hard to avoid working or pretend to be busy. For me, shame and responsibility are the most important senses to have. I believe that grown-up people will never follow their own inclination to do whatever they want because this is children’s behavior. I know the point, so that I try my best to be industrious, responsible and reliable.
Whenever I turn on the TV and watch the city news, there are always a number of people who commit suicides or kill others. The reasons are nothing more than financial difficulties and love affairs. It is shameful for those people who are swayed by their feelings and act rashly. Being an adult should think twice before making decisions. My father once told me that responsibility and deliberation condition adulthood. I know that I do not reach the average level of being a grown-up yet, therefore, I will put my effort to learn experiences from every adult around me. Also, I will learn the lessons from myself and my friends beside me when we act childishly.
