Being

Greetings and salutations,

I have a question concerning the use of being. I think the following sentence is more or less correct, but could I omit 'being' from it, or would that make it grammatically incorrect?

From then on, each day had the sensation of being an unexpected extra.

Thanks.

Thank you for replying, but is it barely condonable or rather preferable?

I think it's much better with the being.

It's understandable, but days don't have sensations.

Mmmh, See your point. Would it be better to say:

From the on, each day gave me the sensation of being an unexpected extra.

I have been thinking about it for a while, isn't it condonable if you take it more figuratively? Like when someone says:

We decided to do some grocery shopping, so the day did not feel like a total waste.

Or is there a difference in these two examples?

Better, but now it sounds like you felt like you were the unexpected extra.

That's easier to interpret. ... so the day did not feel (to us) like a total waste (to us).
