Being

There are countless varieties of nigirizushi, some of the most common ones being tuna, shrimp, eel, squid, octopus and fried egg.

Is that grammaticaly correct?

Strictly speaking, it's kind of a comma splice, but I don't care about it.

I think the part starts with 'some of the ..' is an dependent clause in which 'being' works. In other words, if it's an independent clause, not correct, right?

What else words can  be used for 'being' here?

Thanks.

I got an answer myself. ' is an dependent clause in which the linking verb be has to change into the form 'being'. That's pretty much it.

I got an answer myself.

It's not a comma splice at all, because as I said 'some of the ......being tuna....' is an dependent clause in which the linking verb be has to change into the form 'being'. That's pretty much it.

So no words can replace 'being' I suppose.
