Beginning and ending relevence

Hi,

What's the difference between "faithfully yours" and "yours faithfully" OR between
 "sincerely yours" and "yours sincerely"?

And is there any relevence between the beginning and ending of a formal letter?
For example if we initiate with "Dear Sir/Madam", end with "yours faithfully".
Is that the case?

Regards,

Iman

The standard convention is to use 'Yours faithfully' when you have started a letter with 'Dear Sir or Madam', and 'Yours sincerely' when you have addressed the recipient by name - Like 'Dear Major Rhodes'. I wouldn't use 'Faithfully yours', but I've often used 'Sincerely yours' as it sounds just that little bit less formal. Rover
