Beginning a sentence

Is it incorrect to place "this" or "there" at the beginning of a sentence?
Example:
" Women are expected to wear less revealing clothes than men, and behave more politely in general. This is something that most likely will not change anytime soon in society."
Example:
" There are many factors such as physical ability, social class, and personal opinion that will never allow equality to be reached."

It is perfectly correct to begin a sentence with "this" or "there."
