Can I write,

When the race began / started, the hare ran very fast. The tortoise crawled behind. The hare knew the tortoise crawled very slowly than him, so he took a rest under a tree.

Finally, the tortoise won but the hare lost (in the race). The hare learnt a lesson from the race.

When the hare woke up, it saw the tortoise crawling near the finishing line / it saw the tortoise reaching the finishing line. It ran as fast as it could, but it was too late. Finally/ At/ In the end, the tortoise won the race. / won the championship / won the first place / first prize.
