Before + -ing form

He leaves the farmhouse and takes the usual long walk past the neighbor house and past the barn before heading off down the endless driveway.

Hi. Is using "before + -ing form" the most natural way to finish the sentence?

And is the whole sentence correct?

anonymous He leaves the farmhouse and takes the usual long walk past the neighbor 's house and past the barn , before heading off down the endless driveway. "before + -ing" is fine here. The comma is not mandatory, but I would add it.

  • In the context, "endless driveway" reads slightly too literally to me.
  • I would personally be tempted to add the word "seemingly" or something like that.
