"before " and "after" in the same sentence

I am not sure if it makes sense to use "before" and "after" in the same sentence.

(ex) After he finished his training, he wanted to buy some basketball equipment before his store coupon expired.

Does my sentence make any sense when the two words are used? Thanks for your help.

It's not uncommon. It's fine as long as it makes logical sense.

The boys will drink beer before, after and during the game.
