before again

0I know I've asked this question before but I'm going to ask again because I've recently learned that my previous understanding was flawed.02br

00My question is, is before needed? According to a recent thread on before, if I understand it correctly, before is used to focus on the activity in the past - before now. So using before means you're actually doing the activity now and you want to exclude the current activity from the statistics. For example, a man sees a woman looking at him and asks, "Have I seen you before?" He wonders if he has seen her before the current encounter.02br
