Beer Run

Beer Run

Just a few words
for all the turds
who say I cannot stay,
I bought the beer
that's more than clear,
now I'll tune up,
and play.

Hi,

The above is a short poem I ran across on a website. What does "beer run" has to do with "tune un and play?" Thanks.

When someone says he or she is going on a "beer run" it means that he or she is going to the store to purchase beer. In the poem, the speaker says that because he went on a beer run and therefore brought back beer for everyone that he now has the right to stay where he is when previously he had not had that right. Therefore the speaker could now, "Tune up and play" which means he could now tune up his musical instrument and play it because he could stay.

Thanks, Hmeal, for the reply.

I get the picture now.

By the way, does "tune up and play" also imply that he can speak up and call the shot to make the poem more meaningful?
