Been/gone

Jenny went to Japan last month. She ____ there for two weeks.
(A) has been (B) has gone
The answer is option A. Is option B also correct?

Top answer

Neither option seems possible, since she went last month but was/went there for only two weeks . If she left for Japan at the end of the month, then the question is poorly written; if not, it offers no correct answer.

Hi

Jenny went to Japan last month. (Let's say she went on 26th June)

She has been there for two weeks. (Today being 10th July) And she is still there.

(A) has been (B) has gone

Of course you can say "Jenny has gone to Japan for two weeks," indicating that thereafter she will return or go somewhere else, if things go according to plan.

(B) is not idiomatic in the example. To my ear, it would be okay were you
