"becomes manifest" vs "get manifested" in a sentence.

Here is a sample sentence:

Human actions, as John Searle (1984: 57-70) describes them, have both a physical and a mental component. The physical component is the movement that becomes manifest in different parts of the body when someone is engaged in doing something

I would write "get manifested" instead of "becomes manifest" because I have been presented with that type of use before and this one first time. Are both forms correct? And both equally common?
