In today's NY Times, one news goes like "Meryl Davis and Charlie White became the first Americans to win* an ice dancing gold medal at the Olympics." My question is, can I say "Meryl Davis and Charlie White became the first Americans *winning an ice dancing gold medal at the Olympics“? Thanks.
