Could you please tell me if both "become" and "be" are correct in the following sentence?
Eg. Let him do whatever he wants. He might become/be a better person than us in the future.
Context: A person is talking about a friend because the friend does something which is not socially acceptable. Then, you are replying to the the person by saying the above the sentence.
P.S. "He" refers to "friend".
I think "become" is natural.
