Because Or But

Again your last example "I am sorry to go on but I feel it is not fair that my hobby should be put at risk like this." is okay with "but" in my native language as well. I don't know why my original sentence is unnatural with "but" in my mother tongue. Trust me GPY, there are some similarities between my mother tongue and English. Opinions may differ. You see that CalifJim chose "because" as I preferred "because". By the way, I troubled you.
