Because of

Is it okay to say "because of that reason" instead of "due to that reason" in a sentence as in "I failed because of that reason" ?

In my opinion, it is enough to say I failed because of that. More idiomatic is That's why I failed.

Yes. This is the form that the error usually takes. The combination reason ... is because is wrong. I understand that some people object to the combination reason why, but I see no reason why they might think that.
