Because all the lights are off
Can one say
a. He is not in the basement, because I looked.
b. He is not home, because all the lights are off.
c. He is not home, because he is not answering his phone.
?
The 'because' phrase in each of them means, more or less, 'I say that because...'.
He is not in the basement. I say that because I looked.
