Is it natural to use "because" at the beginning of sentences?like follow
-Because he was ill,he didn't take the test.

A couple of small points.
1. You need a space after the comma.
2. This is not good:
-Because he was ill, he didn't take the test.
This is better:
- Because he was ill, he didn't take the test.
This is even better:
– Because he was ill, he didn't take the test.
