'because'

Hi,

Does it sound awkward or inappropriate to use "it's because" at the beginning of a sentence?

My English teacher says it's best avoid using it, but why?

Thanks.

He's probably right, generally. 'Because' is a subordinating conjunction, which means that it is normally attached to a preceding main clause. Therefore, instead of starting a new sentence with 'it's because', it is usually better to just continue the previous sentence with '...because'.
