Hello everybody.As far as the eye could see, the innumerable littleroofs continued, all the while reflecting the light of the leaden sky.Breaking up the flat house rows, clusters of high-rise buildings poked uphere and there. The farthest of these were gradually caught up in a hazeof rain and at last became silhouettes floating between the sky and thevague dullness of the monochrome mist.I have some questions and need your help.Little roofs refers to houses with small roofs? By small I mean low, am I right?What about flat houses, does they mean one-floor houses?Would you please tell me what a haze of rain means? Haze means mist, then what is a mist of rain? Does it mean light rain?What does these refer to?And my last question, would you please tell me what the the two last lines mean? I really appreciate you for the help ??

He is seeing a town from elevation at some distance. The houses have smaller roofs than many other buildings, that's all. Small does not mean low, although they probably are lower.

The houses aren't flat. The rows are flat. All the houses are the same height, so their roofs present something like a surface to the eye.

When you see a rainstorm from far away, the rain under the clouds looks like fog or haze. It obscures things that way, anyway.

"Silhouettes" because the rain obscured detail. "Floating" because you could not see their bases in the darkening mist. The mist, that is to say the rain, looked a uniform gray.

The houses, with their roofs, were small relative to the whole picture.

No. Not one-story houses. They were all the same height, so formed flat rows of roof lines in the picture.
