Beam/link....

Hi

During our concerts we had the ability to beam stuff in and out via satellite, we could do link-ups and live events with other places. There was a competition where the winner had the whole show on their own TV at home.

--- I know that "beam" is to broadcast something. So they could broadcast something (their whole show) out via satellite, for example to somebody's home when he won the competition, but why "in"? Maybe it has something to do with "link-ups" and "live events"? Maybe it means that through the satellites they could get connected with some other shows going all over the world and show people what was going on in some other place?
