Be Vs. Become

"I'm not sure I should become involved."

Hi, I wondering why it used "become" instead of "be."

I can't really distinguish their meanings, they seem very similar to me.

Thank you.

Because the speaker is not yet involved. 'Become' is a verb of change; 'be' is a verb of condition.

"I'll be your friend"

But why does this sentence uses "be" when the speaker is not yet the listener's friend?

Because it is in a future form, of course.

I'm going to be your friend.
