Be the first to ...

Dear teacher,

I was doing some exercises yesterday and I encountered one question that I do not quite understand.

John claims that he is the first Taiwanese….Salsa on the local TV.

A. of dancing

B. who dances

C. to dance

D. that danced

The answer is C. Can somebody kindly explain to me why C is correct, while B and D are not? Thank you so much.

You're right: B and D are also possible, though the writer clearly meant C, which is the way we usually state a 'first record'.
