Be thankful for/to it

You stay alive because of that hard-working muscle in your chest. Be thankful for it--from the bottom of your heart!

Hi,

What if I replace "for" in the above with "to," do I make a change in meaning? Thanks.

Suppose you gave me $1000.

I am thankful to you, not to the $1000.
I am thankful for the $1000, not for you.

So you are thankful for your heart, not to it. You are thankful that you have your heart; you don't say to your heart, "Thank you!"
