Be probable to do

and since parallel places of scripture are most probable to make us know how they may be best understood, there needs but the comparing this blessing here to Noah and his sons, after the flood, with that to Adam after the creation, ... ---by John Locke.

The sentence is found in Google Book, which is beyond me. What I learnt is that be probable takes that-clause, for example:
It is probable that the disease has a genetic element.

Is the first sentence acceptable, please?
