be out, be run out?

I konow that I can say: they might be out of.......... but can I also say: They might be run out of..........?

If you want to say that they no longer have something (milk, for example) because they've used or sold all that they had, you can say these:

"They might be out of (milk)."
"They might have run out of (milk)."
