Be open to (learn/ learning)?

Hi

I have written an essay and received one comment I cannot understand.

"Both parties have to be open to learn from each other" In this sentence "learn" was marked with verb form. Should I rather write "open to learning"?

Thank you very much for answering my question.

It's funny because I read it as "have to be open in order to/so that they learn from each other."
