Be on something

1.?Once I am on my homework, she makes regular inquiries as to how my homework is going.

2.Once I am on the assignment, she makes regular inquiries as to how the assignment is going.

3.He is always there to support me while I am on my assignment.

4.I'm already on the task.

I wonder whether these sentences are all correct and whenever I can use "on something' when something is a thing I'm working on.

"on" in (1) doesn't really work for me. g. one that takes you away from your regular place or type of work, but not if "assignment" is used in the narrower sense of "homework", which may be what you intend.

For me, "on" works OK with "assignment" in the sense of a special job, e.g. one that takes you away from your regular place or type of work, but not if "assignment" is used in the narrower sense of "homework", which may be what you intend.

(4) is OK.
