Be married by?

Hi! everyone.Could you help me understand this?
I mostly hear sentences like -she married john, he married her..etc
But I ran into this construction in my book-"She was married to Mr John by her aunt." Would it's Active be-Her aunt married her to Mr John.
Now my question is,do we marry someone to someone? Instead of the above colored sentence, can we say this sentence-Her aunt got her marry Mr John. and the passive would be-:She was gotten married to Mr John by her aunt.(Are my sentences correct?)
Thanks!
