Be it ever so

"I had done all that I could ; and no man is well pleased to have his all neglected, be it ever so little."

Does the whole sentence mean?:

-When all that a man can do has been done and neglected, he will not be happy, though it is little.

Here's the broad idea. eg If you do as much as you can, you don't want it to be neglected, even if what you did was not very much. eg If you do your best, you want it to be appreciated.
