I read a sentence once in a magzine and I couldn't understand some constructions of

here it is

"Be it being afflicted with illness, accidents or being disappointed in people, it's how you deal with the situation and what it leaves you with that count"

1-what does he mean by "Be it being"

2-what does he mean by "what it leaves you with that count "

it is...what it leaves you with that counts = how you feel and what you have learned afterwards is what is important.
