If she and I are in seperate locations, she is not in my presence and I am not in her's either.

If A is in the presence of B, then A is physically near to B, usually with the connotation that this circumstance is important or meaningful. Perhaps B is an important person whom it is a privilege to meet, who has authority, whose words must be noted, etc.
