Be in my shoes

Hello dear teachers,

So the girl is going to break up with me so it right to say, "be in my shoes and see how it feels."

Or

"Imagine being in my shoes and see how it feels."

From what I know the first one is the most usual way of saying it but can the word 'imagine' be used as well ?
