I’m hesitant to label it ungrammatical, but I don’t recommend using it.

What would you do when you see that sentence in a school English exam? I meant when the teacher said it's a "correct" sentence. (I'm saying correct, not awkward). It' s really confusing.

Gus has told you, correctly, that it's awkward. Teachers who are not native speakers occasionally go for the less natural option. Come to that, so do native speakers sometimes. It's not the end of the world.
