Be done ~ing

I know the phrase "be done ~ing" means "finish ~ing" (Just as soon as I'm done practicing=Just as soon as I finish practicing) but are there any difference between the two? I assume that the form of "be done ~ing" is more informal that the latter. Thanks in advance!

Your analysis is correct. You could also say Just as soon as I've finished practicing . (Probably the least casual of the three)

In general, without the ' ing' phrase, " I am done with you.." and " I am finished with you " have relatively the same core meaning.
Both ' done' and ' finished' are used as participle adjectives. Both are informal in my opinion.

PhilipMy feeling is that they are accompanied by a negative attitude on the part of the speaker.
If you referred to how I used them in my example, I am quite comfortable in saying " I agree with you totally ".
