Be doing?

Hello, teachers.
I wonder if this question has two correct keys:

The girl has a great interest in sport and ____ badminton classes twice a week over the last three years.

A. took B. is taking C. takes D. has been taking

Of course, D is correct.

But to my ear, B works there too. Am I right?

Thank you a lot.

norwolf But to my ear, B works there too. Am I right? Grammatically possible, yes, but it really requires context that shows she no longer takes those lessons.

Thank you very much, MM. You mean, saying B suggests that she will quit the lessons soon. Right?

Hi, norwolf. I have made a mistake, so let's start again. This is what I intended to say:

A (not B!) is grammatically possible, but it really requires context that shows she no longer takes those lessons.

B is not possible: 'over the last three years' requires either present perfect or simple past.
