Be better off

Hi everybody,

This is about a certain part of a BBC article. Possibly I just want to get a conformation. What is the meaning of the following sentence:

Perhaps you'd be better off with a second life.
I think it is at the 'better off' section of Cambridge Cictionary:
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/better-off_1?q=be+better+off

The second meaning:

to be in a better http://dictionary.cambridge.org/search/british/direct/?q=situation, if or after something http://dictionary.cambridge.org/search/british/direct/?q=happens:
So, the meaning: the 'Second Life' virtual world could make the situation better temporarily, free you from the difficulties of real life (temporarily).

If it is not true, could you show me the appropriate meaning in dictionary (or simply just explain it)? I just got lost. I can't identify the word or words which are appropriate for a search (in monolingual dictionaries).

The BBC article:

Thanks for your help in advance.
